Respecting Our Nation’s Flag
The American flag is a powerful symbol of our nation’s history, values, and sacrifices. Proper respect for the flag includes:
- Displaying It Correctly: Always ensure the flag is hung upright and treated with care.
- Handling With Honor: Never let the flag touch the ground or be used for decoration.
When a flag becomes worn, faded, or damaged beyond repair, it should be retired respectfully.
Flag Disposal Locations
If you have a flag in need of retirement, the Robert Forsyth Chapter has placed flag receptacle boxes at these locations:
All locations collect flags year-round for proper retirement. Alternatively you may contact a member of the Robert Forsyth Chapter to have your flag delivered to the ceremony.
Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony
Join us for our annual Flag Retirement Ceremony:
- When: Weekend near Flag Day, June 14
- Where: Ingram Funeral Home
- Time: 9:00 a.m.
This solemn event is a tribute to our nation, as we retire flags with dignity in a ceremony steeped in tradition and respect. All are welcome to attend and bring any flags in need of retirement.
